Registering to vote for 2017

By Greg Bleiler, USAG Ansbach Voting Assistance Officer

ANSBACH, Germany (Jan. 17, 2017) — Thank you for participating in the presidential election in November. Now that we have entered 2017, the yearly requirement to register with the Federal Voting Assistance Program, or FVAP, is upon us. Below is the downloadable form called the FCPA2013, also known as SF 76, along with detailed instructions for using the FVAP website to accomplish this by emailing the completed form to your county representative. This process takes less than five minutes to complete to ensure your ability to vote in your state’s next elections.

Also below is the Federal Post Card Application Fact Sheet to help ensure service members, their eligible family members and overseas citizens (DoD employees, retirees and contractors) assigned or attached to USAG Ansbach are aware of their right to vote and have the tools and resources to successfully do so — from anywhere in the world. Please take a moment to review it so you can send your vote home.

The Federal Post Card Application (FPCA2013, SF-76) allows eligible U.S. citizens to apply to register to vote, request an absentee ballot and/or update their contact information with their local election office. The FPCA is the primary method of communication between you and your election official. The information you provide on this form is all the local election office has to determine if you meet the state voter registration requirements, which election materials to send you, and where and how to send you a ballot.

You can request a FPCA Online – FVAP.gov also offers an online assistant that walks you through the completion of the form and provides a fillable PDF. Once completed, do not forget to print and sign the form before submitting it to your local election office.

Hard copies of the form are available at all military installations and U.S. embassies and consulates worldwide.  For more information for USAG Ansbach community members, call the Installation Voting Officer at 09802-83-3793 or DSN 467-3793.
