ANSBACH, Germany (March 27, 2017) – A new rule that goes into effect April 1 requires owners of personal vehicles to turn in proof there are no open recall notices prior to shipping their vehicle.

Customers can acquire this proof by inputting their Vehicle Identification Number, or VIN, into the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Safer Car website at https://vinrcl.safercar.gov/vin.

If the recall cannot be corrected due to a lack of parts from the original manufacturer or due to a lack of mechanical ability in the geographical area, customers should contact their Vehicle Processing Center.
