ANSBACH, Germany (November 15, 2019) – The U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach Directorate of Public Works (DPW) will begin demolition on Katterbach Family Housing playgrounds the week of Nov. 18.
The demolition is the first phase of the playground repair project.
Due to the winter season, the contractor will not build or repair new playground equipment until March 2020.
“It will be very busy once spring is here and work will continue until late September,” said David Salinas, DPW Engineer.
Some playgrounds are scheduled to be finished by early summer, including volleyball courts, a basketball court and a new playground for children ages 2 to 5.
“The most current news for residents is that playgrounds 13 and 14, located near buildings 5946 and 5945, respectively, are the first to be demolished before Christmas break,” Salinas said.
Residents can also expect to see some demolition work in January and February.
Due to machinery being onsite, access to these playgrounds will be restricted.
Additionally, equipment will be staged in parking spaces allocated for building 5931-M, which is vacant. The Housing Office asks that residents do not park in any M building parking spaces during playground construction.
