The Ansbach Provost Marshal’s Office is set to join thousands of other law enforcement agencies throughout the U.S. for the annual Click it or Ticket safety belt enforcement campaign from May 23 to June 5.

Whether you are a driver or a passenger, wearing a safety belt is the single most important step you can take to protect yourself every time you travel.  During this mobilization and throughout the year, our goal is to not write citations.  Through enforcement and education, we want to prevent injuries and deaths by encouraging everyone to buckle up every trip, every day.

Although safety belt use rate is the highest ever, 57 percent of young people (18 to 24 years old) killed in car crashes in 2014 were not wearing safety belts. During the mobilization our military police will be performing safety checks throughout USAG Ansbach, and anyone not wearing a seat belt will be cited. In accordance with Army in Europe Regulation 190-1, drivers are responsible for all occupants of the vehicle and anyone cited for a seat belt violation will receive an immediate seven-day suspension of their driving privileges.

By buckling up you are protecting yourself from being ejected during a crash or thrown around inside a vehicle. Buckle up and Drive Safely!
