Ansbach Community Notes — April MWR Highlights

April 1 – 30 – Mile per Day Challenge

Break out of your normal routine and move your body forward for at least one mile, every day, for 30 days! You can run, jog, walk, crawl, bike, or swim. Track your progress and share with the Katterbach Fitness Center on social media (do not share specific routes!)

April 2 – “Ten-Hut!” An all Soldier Show

Step back in time as the Terrace Playhouse transforms to a 1940’s GI canteen as we present “Ten-Hut! An all Soldier Show” Saturday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets available at MWR Central.

April 7 – Prevention Awareness 5K

Bringing awareness to sexual assault and harassment prevention, suicide prevention, child abuse prevention, and substance abuse prevention. Participants can run, walk, or bike the 5K route, starting at 5:30 p.m. at the Katterbach Fitness Center.

Stay for family-friendly activities and refreshments beginning at 6 p.m.

April 9 – Sons of Circus

Sons of Circus, an Armed Forces Entertainment Show, is an amazing performance of juggling, unicycling and acrobatics. Fun for everyone!

Show starts at 3 p.m. at the Sadowski Theater; doors open at 2 p.m.

April 9 – Keukenhof Gardens/Amsterdam Trip

Enjoy the famous Keukenhof Gardens at the time when the tulips are in full bloom. Entrance tickets must be purchased in advance online at In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to explore Amsterdam on your own, visiting such places as the Anne Frank House, the Van Gogh Museum, the Heineken Brewery and more. Be sure to book the Anne Frank House in advance. The trip departs Katterbach at 10 p.m., Shipton at 10:15 p.m., and Storck at 11 p.m. on Friday and returns approximately 7:00 a.m. Sunday. Trip includes transportation only.

April 11 – Sign up for a trip to Croatia with Outdoor Recreation

Start the summer off with a relaxing trip to the beach! Outdoor Rec will head for Croatia where you can spend the weekend soaking up some much needed sun June 17-20. Trip includes three nights lodging with breakfast and choice of three-course dinner or buffet. Pick up in Stork available upon request. To avoid trip cancellation, they must have 30 participants paid in full no later than April 11!

April 15 – 17 – Italian Pottery Shopping and Sightseeing

Shop the famous handmade pottery factories of northern Italy. Visit one of the Italian factories that produce for Williams & Sonoma and other famous retailers. After shopping, we will spend the night in the town of Nove. On day two, we will head to Venice for a day to explore the city and its canals before returning to the hotel. On day three, we will check out and make a brief stop in Verona, the setting of Romeo and Juliet, before returning home. Trip departs Thursday night from Storck Barracks at 11 p.m., Shipton at 11:45 p.m., and Katterbach at midnight and returns at approximately 11 p.m. on Sunday evening. Trip includes transportation and two nights in a hotel with breakfast.

April 22 – Game Night at the Terrace Playhouse

Enjoy a relaxed evening of board games at the Terrace Playhouse on Bleidorn Kaserne. Play your favorite board game, or learn a new one Friday, April 22, 6 – 8 p.m.

April 23 – Cosmic Bowling Karaoke Night

Sing your heart out under the cosmic lighting of the Katterbach Bowling Center at Cosmic Bowling Karaoke Night on Saturday, April 23 from 5 – 11 p.m.

April 29 – Trivia Night at the Terrace Playhouse

Show off your knowledge of a variety of random facts and arcane trivia Friday, April 29, 6 – 8 p.m. at the Terrace Playhouse, Bldg. 5091, Bleidorn Housing Area.
