MP Soldiers train at Rainbow Elementary for variety of situations

By USAG Ansbach Public Affairs

ANSBACH, Germany (Nov. 18, 2016) – Military police Soldiers with the U.S. Army Garrison Ansbach Directorate of Emergency Services recently completed two weeks of training as part of a annual training requirement at the site of the former Rainbow Elementary School at Barton Barracks.

In addition to classroom training on casualty evaluation, first aid, crisis management in the event of an active shooter, responding to domestic assaults, fingerprinting, and more, the Police Law Enforcement Course also included hands-on training with an active shooter exercise, riot control techniques, and performance of duty after infliction by pepper spray.

“This training is so crucial/vital for us as law enforcement officers because it prepares us for every situation that may arise as MPs performing garrison policing duties,” said Sgt. Philip T. Ventimiglia II, team leader of the 131st Military Working Dog Detachment. “The better equipped we are, the better we can protect, assist, and defend our local community.”
