ADVISORY: A demonstration is set to take place in Nürnberg from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, May 27. Because of the possibility of violence U.S. personnel are strongly advised to avoid the area of the demonstrations.
The demonstration, which involves an expected 200 to 250 participants, is to take place throughout the Altstadt (old town) of Nürnberg May 27. Counter-demonstrations are expected as well. The demonstration is set to begin between Rathenauplatz and the Sebalder Höfe shopping mall at the Laufertormauer. Then the demonstration will move via Äusserer Laufer Platz, Äusserer Laufer Gasse, Innerer Laufer Gasse, Theresienstraße, Fünferplatz, Obstmarkt, Spitalgaße, Königstraße, Karolinenstraße, Hefnerplatz, Ludwigplatz, Jakobsplatz, Ludwigstraße, and Gostenhofer Hauptstraße to Petra-Kelly-Platz southwest of the Altstadt. A concluding rally is set to take place at Petra-Kelly-Platz.
As with any demonstration and simultaneous counter-demonstration, there is a possibility of violence, and host-nation law enforcement are expected to actively monitor the event.
